Hello and welcome to Blue Thistle Studio

I'm so happy to have you here!  You probably want to know a little more about me, and I hope this answers any questions you may have about what I do and my background.

I offer a unique line of handmade special occasion and blank note cards through Blue Thistle Paperie, a tiny subdivision of Blue Thistle Studio.  Many of my handmade cards are one of a kind, and I continually strive to showcase beautifully patterned papers, eye-catching embellishments, and occasionally fabrics and natural materials like tree bark.

My hand-poured, small batch scented soy candles are sold in beautifully curated vintage container vessels and are non-toxic, so you can breathe easy knowing you're not being exposed to toxic chemicals when you purchase a Blue Thistle Studio soy candle.

You can find my paper goods, candles, and seashell guest soaps, along with a selection of limited edition gift tags, and cupcake toppers at Flourish Market in West Stockbridge, MA, or by shopping the Flourish Market online store at flourishmarket.com.  And when I'm able to fit it into my schedule, you can also find me selling my merchandise at local craft fairs in the Berkshires.

Additionally, I offer a selection of personalized, hand-stamped wedding & special event drawstring favor bags, as well as a small selection of vintage home decor, through my Etsy shop (shop name BlueThistleStudio2).

After three years of writing my home decorating blog, I have made the decision to put it to rest so that I can spend less time writing content and more time creating handmade items from the heart.  For those who followed along with me on that journey, I thank you for your interest!

Years of visual merchandising and photo styling in various retail settings have instilled in me a deep love for the art of photography.  I draw inspiration from my background in the decorative arts as well as the enchanting and ever-changing landscapes of the Berkshires and Northeast in all of my photographic pursuits.  Botanical subjects, animals, and time-worn details, be it the peeling paint of an old barn, a stack of old books, or the weathered patina of the architecture found throughout New England are endlessly fascinating to me.  A small sampling of my photography can be found under the Gallery tab at the top of this page.

I'm a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, where I earned my Master's Degree in the History of Decorative Arts.  I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree during my undergraduate studies at Rowan University, where I specialized in ceramics, metalworking, and jewelry design.

I reside in the beautiful Berkshires with my husband and our rascally golden retriever, Aspen, shown below relaxing on her favorite rug.

        Dreaming of my next project,

                 Mary
